Getting a Makeover

McGrory Orthodontics is excited to be rolling out our NEW LOOK! Over the next few months, you will be seeing some great changes to our logo and our website www.shapingsmiles.com. That means new business cards, new t-shirts, new awesome give-aways, new pens...just like your new smile, it's going to be AWESOME!

What prompted a redesign?

Our look was previously very classic and we felt it was time for an update. We needed a brand that was essentially as fun and dynamic as we are! Dr. McGrory searched for a design group that could help capture the feel and purpose of our mission to provide exceptional orthodontic care. That's how she met with the creative minds of Brad and Suzy at Test Monki up in The Woodlands. After an exhaustive interview process so that Brad and Suzy could understand what makes us tick and how we stand apart from the crowd, they started showing us marks (that's like the design element of your logo) and working to find a color scheme that really popped!

What's the story behind the mark?

Dr. McGrory really wanted to freshen her office's look and have her brand reflect the mission statement of her practice: To provide quality orthodontic care in an efficient and compassionate manner with outstanding customer service in the servitude of Christ. Dr. McGrory works hard every day to ensure that her patients are well cared for and know that they are valued and loved! If you look closely you can see that her new mark is made up of four overlapping kissing fish. It also represents an "all hands on deck" mentality that her team has for patient care - caring hands and caring hearts for patients and each other.

What else is coming?

Now that our redesign is in full swing, it's time to keep the ball rolling. The next big venture will be our sister practice coming soon to Bellaire. Our patients will soon have two convenient locations to choose from. We will keep you updated on the progress when construction starts!

Welcome 2014!

Well the New Year has arrived and it seems to have all the hustle and bustle that 2013 was simmering with. Did you make any resolutions this year?

My main resolution for 2014 is to lead a more organized life. I come from a long lineage of gatherers (read: borderline hoarders), which means that papers tend to stack up around me like northern snow drifts. The important stuff gets taken care of quickly, letters written, consults sent. The junk mail leaves even quicker via the "circular file".

 

My problem is the middle ground, the journals that have an article or two that I want to read again (or find time to read in the first place), the marketing ideas that I'm considering, but haven't committed to yet, the flyer for the energy company that is offering me a better rate and my contract with my current company is not over yet; all the little bits that I can't part company with...just yet...but don't want to file away where they will be forgotten.

 

There is part of the offending stack. A little monster today that will grow until she begins to rear her head and gnash at me with sharp teeth and ragged claws. I say, not this year! This year I will conquer the battle of the paper bulge and keeps the stacks in reign. This year I will commit to placing items in folders to look at again and not letting them stack up. This year I will label those folders monthly and when the month comes I will review what is inside, then it will go in the circular file (see above) or into permanent filing as a future resource.

 

I am determined to fight my clutter bug this year and I am determined to BE THE CHAMPION! This year I will work on organizing my life as beautifully as the smiles I create. I know that my talents are great, my heart is sincere, and my attention is laser focused; which means there is no stopping me.

Watch out world of paper stacks, here I come!

A Look Back...

Recently, I met with four fabulous female orthodontists that practice in surrounding communities to talk about practice life, family life, and the wonderful web that we spin to keep it all going. These amazing women in dentistry are strong business leaders and caring mothers, involved in their community, and all have a Servant's heart. Last Friday, we were chatting about what new trends in getting the word out (a.k.a. marketing and advertising) we had all been experimenting with, when my friend Carin said that she was about to write her first blog for her orthodontic practice. I wondered silently, "Could I do that?" That struck a chord in me that wouldn't go quiet; so, I have decided to venture into the great unknown and begin a blog for my practice. Maybe it's just time to get some things off my chest ...before it bursts with pride.

This past August marked our 5th year serving the orthodontic needs of the people of Pearland, south Houston, and greater Brazoria County. Wow! Time flies! It has been an amazing roller coaster ride watching the growth of my practice and watching my sweet patients grow into amazing young men and women. When I first set-up practice in Pearland in 2008, I never realized what an incredible bond I would form with the families I serve. I love to watch my patients grow and to share in their successes. I feel like a proud parent when they say they had a great day at school or they are excited because they got their braces off and homecoming is in two weeks! I say let's celebrate! Patients that have been done with treatment for awhile and are back to have their retainer checked often comment on the growth and are excited to see how busy we are getting. So are we! 

So...keep inviting your friends...and keep bringing your family members along to catch the movie playing in our movie room...and we will keep making you smile. After all, that's our job!
